Infinity Fitness Member Shelly Dinges | March 2019 Member Spotlight

You’ve been a member of Infinity since 2013! What keeps you coming back?

It may sound cheesy but to be completely honest about what keeps me coming back to Infinity is that I truly do consider it my FitFam. I do not have family here in Arizona and I do not know what I would do if I didn’t have the people in my life from Infinity that I do truly consider my family. They are always there through the good and bad times for me.

What do you enjoy most about Infinity & how do you stay motivated?

The thing I love the most about Infinity is the people… from the staff, to the trainers, to all of the many friendships that I have acquired. If it weren’t for these people I would not be near as healthy and I would skip the gym a lot more. My friends and the staff and trainers keep me accountable. When I am not there I get lots of loving messages to find out where I am and motivating me to get back in. I love when I walk in people are genuinely happy to see me and that makes me feel so good. I also love that the workouts are different every day. I love that there are a variety of options like strength and cardio classes, boxing, spin, and even stretch (which I need the most but it is the hardest for me to do). There are so many things that I love about Infinity and to be honest not really anything that I don’t.

What is your career & what are some of your interests outside of Infinity?

I work at Notre Dame Preparatory as the Director of Alumni Relations, and as a coach of golf and tennis. I just transitioned into my new role, prior to that I was a teacher. As a coach, I think one of the smartest decisions I made was to bring my teams in to workout at Infinity. They have the opportunity to be pushed and trained by multiple people with different styles. There is definitely a huge difference in our endurance from the beginning of the season to the end and it is one of the things that helps us to continuously be among the top teams in the state in both golf and tennis.

My main interests outside of Infinity primarily have to do with coaching my teams and occasionally getting to play a little myself. I like doing anything active golf, tennis, hiking but what I enjoy the most is hanging out with friends for happy hour or getting brunch with friends after a morning workout.

As a long-standing member of our FitFam, what wisdom can you give to newer members or those just embarking on their fitness journey?

The best advice I could give would be the same advice I got when I first joined. I was told to keep coming back, especially when you are sore, it will get easier and you will start loving the way you feel once you begin working out consistently. Regardless of your level or ability, there is a place at Infinity for everyone and I think that is why we are such a FitFam.

Tell us something that not many people may know about you.

This is a tough one because I feel like I am an open book. One thing about me is that I am motivated the most when someone counts me out or tells me I can’t do something. Then I will do everything to prove them wrong. Which in turn links with my greatest fear, which is letting people down, whether they be family, friends, co-workers, my students, my athletes, or even people I just met. I hate letting people down and sometimes the fear of doing that holds me back from things.
